Neuroscientists have been able to track down sections of the brain that light up when nuns recall epiphanous moments. So what does this mean about God and our relationship with God? Not being a neuroscientist, it doesn't mean a whole lot to me, but be certain that people will use it an excuse to argue about the existence of God.
Just because the brain lights up in reproducible ways when a person is thinking about God doesn't mean God is a figment of their imagination. It's like saying that litmus paper changes colors when I drop lemon juice on it because the paper really likes acids.
I'll stop now... it's early and I need coffee. What do you think about all of this?

Funny how things work, the post Teresa of Avila on my site has been getting a few hits over the past few days. http://epiphanist.wordpress.com/everyday-prayer/teresa-of-avila/
I had a moment with an American Orthodox priest as well in the last few days. His ongoing response includes a description of the vision of "my father's house with many rooms". Not an uncommon vision of the Kingdom, interesting moment for it to pop up. Wonder what L Ron Hubbard's brain machine would make of all this? I had a night out with the scientologists last night!
That sounds like interesting reading! I'll go check out that post.
So what percentage of Scientologists are really into the religion and how many do you think are involved in the more manipulative aspect of this grand money collecting scheme/tax dodge?
And how many Christian churches are no better?
I don't know what to think about scientologists, or about those churches either. I used to know a priest who said that any spirituality was better than none. If that's what they want to do?? They might not think much of me either, and that could be a good thing? LOL.
Just passing by but, I thought I'd drop a note. God has told me that there is a part of our brain that is directly connected to Him. Perhaps that is what these scientist are seeing
So is this a new revelation as a direct result of this article (or another like it in recent news) or did God tell you this independently?
God directly.
I'm a little unclear... so you're saying God told you this a while back or did you see the recent articles and, during reflection, God spoke to you and gave you this insight?
Not that it really matters how or when it happened, I suppose, I'm just curious. Thanks for taking the time to comment here, btw!
I hear from God often. Sometimes we have a running conversation. I write about these c conversations & other experiences in my blog. You have given me a thought for today's blog. "What does God's voice sound like." If you read some of the blog let me know, I'd be interested in what you have to say. The 1st blog written in Sept. tells a bit about me. Hope the blog will answer your question.
Nice blog, given55! I'll add it to my list. Please come back and continue to join in on the conversation.
